Kline obit
Roxbury Township, Hilde W. Kline, “Oma,” passed away peacefully at home on July 7, 2015 at the age of 84. Hilde was born in Germany and immigrated to the United States in her early 20’s, seeking, and achieving, the American dream. She lived in Morristown, NJ before moving to Roxbury Township, where she lived and raised her family since 1961.
Hilde was an active volunteer, most notably as a Sunday school superintendent and teacher for the United Methodist Church and was a member of the executive board for the German Language School of Morris County for many years. She was also active in the 4-H Beekeeping & Gardening Club in Morris County. As her children grew, she began working outside the home as a bi-lingual secretary for W&G Instruments, a German company based in Livingston, NJ. When the firm relocated its business to North Carolina, Hilde decided to remain in Roxbury Township where she continued to raise her family. Once her children were grown, she engaged in a second career helping others in need and retired from the County of Morris, Division of Human Services, in 2002.
With a true zest for life, Hilde loved to travel and always looked forward to new adventures near and far. She was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, crosswords and doing home crafts. She also enjoyed outings with her Red Hatters Club and meeting with friends at the Senior Community Center, where she always gave a helping hand.
Hilde is survived by her four daughters, Shirley, Robin, Dale and Linda, and two grandchildren, James and Emma Grace.
Friends may visit the Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Succasunna, 973-584-7264 ( davishepplewhitefh.com ) on Thursday, July 16th, 5-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the American Heart Association (www.heart.com) would be an appropriate and appreciated way to celebrate her life.
