Roxbury Township – On Tuesday, January 19, 2021, Gladys Frances Rohn, beloved wife, mother, sister and grandmother, passed away at the age of 81. Gladys was born on July 17, 1939 in Dover, NJ to Ann and Chester Merring and raised in Newark, NJ with her brother George and two sisters, Joan and Susan. On June 11, 1960 she married her high school sweetheart, Richard Rohn and together they raised five children, Scott, Norman, Diana, Lori and James. The family moved to Succasunna in 1968 and Gladys worked as a Claims Adjuster at Travelers Insurance Company for 26 years.

Gladys enjoyed spending time with her children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, crocheting, sewing, reading and shopping in her spare time. She could often be found hosting family gatherings, crocheting beautiful blankets, spoiling her grandchildren with her shopping habit, making clothes for her children and later, altering prom dresses and hemming pants for her grandchildren. She was also an avid ballroom dancer, a hobby she enjoyed doing with her husband, as they traveled around the country and even internationally to competitions.

Gladys was predeceased in death by her mother, Ann Merring, father, Chester Merring and brother, George Merring. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Richard, sisters: Joan Rahr and Susan McDonnell, children: Scott Rohn, Norman Rohn, Diana Nieves, Lori Spetaccino and James Rohn, grandchildren: Heather, Brittany, Nicole, Miranda, Amanda, Krysten, Michael, Timothy and Brandon and great-grandchildren: Hannah, Luis, Emmanuel, Jayden and Jazmin.

Friends and relatives may visit on Friday, January 22, 2021 at the Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home in Succasunna, NJ from 3 to 5 p.m. Donations in Gladys’s name may be made to The American Cancer Society or The Parkinson’s Foundation.
