Edwin Lloyd Kelley

Roxbury Township,  Mr. Edwin Lloyd Kelley, 77, died peacefully on January 11, 2012 at Care One in Parsippany. He was born in Knoxville, TN and later lived in Long Island, NY, returned to Knoxville, TN, and then Pennsylvania, before moving to Succasunna 41 years ago. After high school he was in the Merchant Marine and soon left to earn his BS in Chemistry from the University of Tennessee in 1957. He worked for several chemical companies in various positions. He was a Laboratory Manager in Rubber and Plastics, Laboratory Manager for Polymer Additives, Research Manager in Research and Development Applications, and Laboratory Manager for Protective Coating Chemicals. While in high school he received the Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award.  Throughout his career, he had numerous inventions and held four patents. He was also a lifelong member of the American Chemical Society and worked very hard up until his retirement in 1992.

He is survived by his wife Phyllis J, of 57 years, his 3 children; Richard L (and wife Stephanie) Kelley of Silver Spring, MD, Lorraine Kelley Weinstein (and her husband Myles) of Aberdeen, and Laura M Edwards (and her friend Robert Ramsey) of Sparta, brother Rev. Allen (and Sue) Kelley of Warrenton, NC, and 4 grandsons; Brett Edwards, Maxwell Weinstein, Sean Edwards, and Harrison Weinstein.

Friends may visit at the Davis and Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main St., Succasunna (973-584-7264)  davishepplewhitefh.com on Sunday from 3 – 6 pm, with a prayer at 6 pm. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, 10 am, at the Funeral Home with the interment to follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Chester.
