Edward F Cousineau, Jr.

Roxbury Twp.Mr. Edward F Cousineau, Jr., 86, died on June 12, 2012 at the Compassionate Care Hospice in Dover.  Ed was born and raised in Springfield, MA and moved to Succasunna 47 years ago.  He served in the US Army during WW II and then worked at Picatinny Arsenal in Rockaway Twp as a project manager for more than 36 years, retiring in 1982. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, was a member of St. Therese RC Church in Succasunna and served as a church usher and pizza maker extraordinaire during Bingo Nights.

A voracious reader in his retirement, Ed was asked on one of his many trips to the local library if he would like to volunteer his time. He became treasurer of the Roxbury Twp Public Library for several years. Ed was a member of the Springfield, MA, American Legion Post 21, an avid Red Sox fan, and a world traveler with his beloved wife Anne and their close group of friends. He was also a maker of pinewood derby cars, brewer of beer, deliverer of newspapers, carver of wood, builder of campfires, fixer of his sons’ cars, lover of crosswords and attendee of just about every soccer, football, baseball and swim team competition that his four sons played in. Somehow, he also managed to keep up with the whirlwind that was his wife, Anne as they travelled to Elderhostels throughout the US.

He is survived by his wife, Anne M (Ponch) of 51 years, 4 sons; Edward M of S. Orange, James of Evanston, IL, Robert of Boston, MA, and Paul of Landing, and 8 grandchildren; Sam, Noah, Nat, Ben, Andrew, Quinn, Laurel, and Connor.
