Roxbury Township,      Mr. David M Smith, II (82) died on November 28, 2010 at St. Clare’s Hospital in Dover. He was born in Montclair and lived most all of his life in Budd Lake and Succasunna. He served in the U S Army during the Korean War, and was a retired expeditor for the Howmet Corporation in Rockaway where he worked for 42 years. He was a Life Member of the Netcong V F W, avid fisherman and loved playing golf and being a Roxbury Township Little League umpire. He was a familiar face at (his son’s) Bryans Luncheonette in Succasunna, and his greatest joy was being with his grandchildren and family.

Mr. Smith was predeceased by his infant son David III in 1956 and is survived by his wife Josephine (Masi) of 56 years, his 5 children; Michael Smith of Succasunna, Linda (and Michael) Freund of Mansfield, Mark D (and Joann) Smith of Byram, Gregory J Smith of Peapack, and Eric H Smith of Hopatcong, sisters; Doris Brain of Milford  and Marian Barrett of Budd Lake, brother Russell Smith of IN, and 6 grandchildren; Erika, Michael, and Sam Freund, and Kirby, Haley, and Annalee Smith.

Friends may visit at the Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main St, Succasunna (davishepplewhitefh.com) on Tuesday from 3 – 8 pm. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, 10 am at the Funeral Home with the interment to follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
