Curtis C Carter

Roxbury Township, Mr. Curtis C Carter, 90, died on August 22, 2022, at his home. He was born and raised in Port Jervis, NY and lived in Dover before moving to Ledgewood 31 years ago. He served in the U S ARMY as a Morse Intercept Operator, attached to the US Army Security Agency Field Station 8611 in Baumholder, Germany from 1954-1956. He served in the Army Reserves from 1957-1962. He was a licensed Chiropractor with a degree from the Chiropractic Institute of New York. He worked as a Locomotive Engineer starting with the Erie Lackawanna Railroad and retiring from N J Transit after 45 years. He was a member of the Succasunna United Methodist Church and enjoyed traveling, history, music, and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis S. Carter and his mother, Adelaide T. Carter of Port Jervis, NY. His sister Naida Brundage of Otisville, NY, and his brother Jay B. Carter of Los Angeles, CA.

He is survived by his wife Sheryl L. Carter of 31 years, Children Curtis M. Carter of Virginia Beach, VA, David S. and Kristen Carter of Virginia Beach, VA. Rob and Sharon Carter Davis of Moyok, NC, Michael and Kelly Stark of Blairstown, NJ, Steven and Candice Stark of Hackettstown, NJ. Grandchildren Curtis Carter and David Scott Carter Jr. of Virginia Beach, VA, Ashley Danielle Bray and Justin Bray of Moyok, NC, Michael and Alexa Stark of Netcong, NJ, Kristen Stark and Madelyn Stark of Blairstown, NJ, Temperance Stark, Miles Stark, and Sarah Stark of Blairstown, NJ.

 Friends may visit at the Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Succasunna, NJ 973-584-7264 (davishepplewhitefh.com) on Friday, August 26th, from 4 – 7 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday at 10 am, followed by the interment at the Succasunna Presbyterian Cemetery with Military Honors
