Hopatcong, Mrs. Barbara M McGowan, 89, died on April 28, 2018 at the Compassionate Care Hospice in Dover. She was born in Newton and grew up in Long Valley and graduated from Hackettstown High School. She then moved to Hopatcong 60 years ago. She was a homemaker and enjoyed baking and cooking, and collected “cats meows houses”.

She was predeceased by her husband Roger P McGowan in 2012, and is survived by her 7 children; Marlene Pericola of Hopatcong, Eileen (and Gary) Petersen of Hopatcong, Roger Kevin (and Celeste) McGowan of MN, Barbara E (and Chris) Edwards of Hopatcong, Cynthia Ann (and Robert) Salgado of TX, Scott John (and Debra) McGowan of PA, and Matthew Carey McGowan of PA. She also leaves her 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 2 brothers; Terrance McKenna and Dennis McKenna, and 2 sisters Catherine Gelo and Agnes (Caendi) Alivo.

Friends may visit at the Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Succasunna 973-584-7264   (davishepplewhitefh.com) on Tuesday from 2 -4 & 7 – 9  pm. The Funeral Liturgy will be held on Wednesday at 10 am, at St Therese R C Church, with the interment to follow at the Stanhope Union Cemetery.
