Charles Goring passed away peacefully Sunday night, August 29, 2021, at the Morristown Memorial Hospital. Charles was just 66 years old. As a motorcycle rider for 50 years, Charles was of strong Faith and was prepared for his final ride and journey on the Highway to Heaven.

Charles was born on May 22, 1955, in Newark New Jersey, to Frederick and Hannah Goring. Charles spent his life in Lyndhurst and during the last 7 years in Long Valley. He was a Graduate of Montclair State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and a minor in Psychology.

Charles was very close to his family, to his friends, and his beloved dogs, Rouge, Drifter and Buddy Dawg, over the past decades. Charles was an avid motorcyclist and enjoyed traveling the United States on his motorcycles. He also was an outdoorsman, domino player, mechanic, and an avid Goofy collector. He enjoyed fishing, Lionel trains, drag racing on his drag bike, building and repairing motorcycles with his CeTee Cycle Supply business and attending motorcycle flea markets selling his parts and supplies. It was also where he met Malcolm Forbes (motorcycle collector/rider) & Elizabeth Taylor, where they shared stories about motorcycles and traveling the open road. He loved watching the old classic movies and listening to his favorite’s hits from the 70’ and 80’s and Hard Rock.

Charles was known for his smile and positive attitude uplifting others as they struggled with their own health issues, while he also battled Cancer and a disabling leg injury from 35 years ago. While battling these health issues, Charles became a guest motivational speaker at a rehab center. This was further evidenced during his stay at his last rehab center where he visited other patients and motivated them to live every day with a smile and lifted them up with his positive attitude.

While recovering from a new cancer infection and many surgeries and even earlier beating Cancer, he is remembered for his Good Morning and Good Night posts on Facebook with Goofy pictures and motivational sayings. We all looked forward to those posts and our zoom meetings while he was in the rehab facility isolated by Covid.

Charles was a man who didn’t have a mean bone in his body, a warm friendly man, who made his mark in the world not with grand gestures or fancy titles, but by the basic goodness and generosity of his character, by the quality of his involvement with his fellow man, and how he brought out these qualities in others. Charles was a man of strong Christian Faith which carried him thru the many surgeries, cancer battles and shaped his resolve to win the battles and overcome the challenges.

There were many wonderful aspects to Charles life, and many ways that he touched our lives. He will be remembered as a wonderful brother, brother-in-law, a great friend, a generous uncle, cousin, and a friendly face in town, or in his repair garage fixing motorcycles. In all these ways and more, he made our lives richer and fuller. The gift of Charles life is still here with us. He lives on in our memories and stories, and as a source of inspiration and strength. In this way we will keep the gift of Charles life alive.

Charles is survived by his Sister Madeline Dorothy Heard & husband Craig, nephews: Craig Frederick Heard & Katrina, Rick John Goring, nieces: Melissa Ann Fagan & husband Rusty & daughter Adele, Kristen Dorothy Laughland & husband Rick, Susan Chantre & husband Marlon, Sister-in-Law Judy Goring, Uncle Stuart Endress & Corinne, Cousin Bill Hevert & Larry, & Cousin Pat Welch. Charles’s brother, Rickey, passed away only months ago from Cancer.
