Arnold Giovannoli

Arnold Giovannoli (94) of Roxbury Township NJ, died peacefully at home after a short illness.

Born on April 30, 1930 in Phillipsburg NJ, he grew up in Summit Hill PA and Hoboken NJ.  He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Newark College of Engineering (now NJIT), was a former President of fraternity Alpha Phi Delta and enjoyed extra curricular basketball, later inducted into the Varsity Basketball Hall of Fame.  On November 22, 1953, he married Elizabeth “Betty” (nee Meier) of Bloomfield NJ.  He served as a Second Lieutenant of the Air Force during the Korean War, then began work in National Defense at Picatinny Arsenal for 30 years.  After retiring, he began his own Consulting Firm, remaining active in National Defense.  Arnold loved helping others.  He participated in CYO basketball in Mine Hill, then began Recreation Basketball as part of the Roxbury Twp. Recreation Department.  He sat on the Zoning Board for 5 years and helped support and expand the town’s Social Services Department.  He was a Charter Member of the St. Therese RC Church Knights of Columbus Organization, where he provided scholarships to students of the local STEM Program.  In his free time, he prided himself as a Masters-level golfer!

Arnold is survived by Elizabeth, his wife of 71 years, daughters Deborah Giovannoli of Stroudsburg PA and Bettina Stukenbroeker of Succasunna NJ, Son Anthony Giovannoli (Laura) of Ridgefield CT, grandchildren Paul Giovannoli, Dana Stukenbroeker, Drew Giovannoli, Laurelle Giovannoli, Michaela Giovannoli-Deane, Teresa Giovannoli and 3 great-grandchildren; Ellie and Hugo Giovannoli and Marcus Giovannoli. He was pre-deceased by brother Ralph Giovannoli 1997 and sister Dolores Belgiovine 2020.  He is survived by a brother, Joseph Giovannoli.

Friends may at Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Succasunna, NJ on Friday, December 20th, 2024 from 11 – 12 noon. His funeral service will be held on Friday, 12 noon at the Funeral Home. The interment will follow at the Succasunna Presbyterian Cemetery with Military Honors. Then a small repast will be held at Elizabeth’s home.
