Roxbury Township,  Rita Funicelli (nee Baccaro) 83, passed away on June 16, 2022 at Morristown Memorial Hospital.

She was born to the late Joseph and Anna Baccaro (nee Ceraso) November 18, 1938 in Bloomfield, NJ. Rita graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1956. She married the late Alfredo Funicelli September 16, 1961. She went on to become an LPN in 1975 and worked at Riverside hospital, St. Barnabas hospital, and for various doctors. She loved being a nurse.

She grew up in Bloomfield, then moved to Cedar Grove, lived in Rockaway and then Succasunna for most of her adult life. Rita was a very active member in her church. She was a member of the rosary society and she was a eucharistic minister. Rita liked to read, do puzzles, play mahjong, watch NCIS and Law and Order SVU, but most of all, she loved being with her family. She treasured her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving daughters Anne-Michele Gencarelli and her husband Tony, Terry Ionni and her husband Joe, and Cathy Grill and her husband Ray. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, along with many of their spouses and significant others, and 5 great grandchildren. Rita was predeceased by her loving husband Alfredo in 1995.

Friends and relatives may visit at the Davis and Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main St., Succasunna, NJ 973-584-7264 (davishepplewhitefh.com) on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 from 4 – 8 pm. The Funeral Liturgy will be held on Wednesday, 10:30 am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton R C Church, 61 Main Street, Flanders. The interment will follow at the Glendale Cemetery, 28 Hoover Avenue, Bloomfield, NJ at 12:30 pm.
