Roxbury Township, Phyllis G Carey, 89, died on November 11, 2013 at Franciscan Oaks in Denville. She was born and raised in Camden, Maine and lived in Long Island most of her life before moving to Succasunna 14 years ago. In 1945 she earned her Registered Nurse degree from the L I School of Nursing and in 1975 she earned her B S from Molloy College in New York. She was a nurse at the Rockville Nursing Center in Rockville Center, NY. She was also a member of St. Therese R C Church, an avid reader and Red Sox fan.

She was predeceased by her husband Vincent J Carey in 1992 and is survived by her 7 children; Dr. Kevin (and Joan) Carey of Edgartown, MA Barbara (and Robert) Comerford of Ridgefield, CT, Patricia (and Thomas) Hunsicker of North Bethesda, MD, Dr. Stephen (and Erica) Carey of Seaford, DE, Mary Ellen (and Joseph) Sampson of Mountain Lakes, NJ, Timothy (and Kathleen) Carey of Denville, NJ and Sean Carey of Amityville, NY, 14 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.

Friends may visit at the Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Succasunna 973-584-7264 (davishepplewhitefh.com) on Thursday from 6 – 9 pm. The Funeral Liturgy will be held on Friday, 9:30 am at St. Therese R C Church in Succasunna with the interment to follow at the Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury, L I.
