Patricia J Ehrgott

Roxbury Township, Mrs. Patricia Joan Ehrgott, 76, died at her home on July 23, 2018. She was born in Dover and was a lifelong Succasunna resident.   She was a direct descendent of Ebenezar Byram, the founder of Mendham, NJ and the Black Horse Inn.   She graduated from Roxbury High School Class of 1959 .  She earned her BA from Kean College in Education.  As an elementary school teacher of 40 years (mostly at Nixon School),  children were her life’s work.  She helped many students along the way and inspired some of her students to become teachers.    In 2003, she was named a “Hometown Hero” because of her influence and care for her students.  She was a past president of the College Club of Dover and the club’s historian as well as a member of the NJEA.   She attended St. Elizabeth Ann Seton R C Church in Flanders.    She loved spending time with family and friends especially organizing family reunions.  Her grandchildren, Justin and Sophia, were the pride and joy of her life.   She loved the beach, traveling, reading, convertibles, and going to AC.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Howard in 1994, and is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Amy and George Ecarma of Flanders, grandchildren, Justin and Sophia, and mother Polly Welsh of Boynton Beach, FL.

Friends may visit at the Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Succasunna, NJ  973-584-7264  (davishepplewhitefh.com) on Friday from 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 pm. The Funeral Service will be on Saturday, 10 am, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton R C Church in Flanders, with the interment to follow at the Succasunna Presbyterian Cemetery.
