Mildred J Henningsen

RandolphTownship, Mrs. Mildred J Henningsen, 79, went home to be with the Lord on September 6, 2012 at The Valley Hospital inRidgewood, after a 19 ½ year battle with Multiple Myeloma. A daughter of Norwegian immigrants, she was born and raised inBrooklyn,NYwhere she lived before moving toRandolph,NJ53 years ago. At the age of 19 she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and Home Economics fromHunterCollegeinManhattan, and began teaching atSouthBayElementary SchoolinLong Island,NY. She was an active member ofHillsideLutheranBrethrenChurchin Succasunna for more than 50 years, serving as a Deaconess, Sunday School teacher, Youth Group leader, Pioneer Girls leader, Women’s Missionary Fellowship member, choir member, and a founding board member and volunteer atHillsideNursery School. InRandolph, she was a volunteer librarian and teacher at theFernbrookElementary Schoollibrary. She also spent many summers at Camp-of-the-Woods onLakePleasantin Speculator, NY.

 She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, S. Lloyd Henningsen, 4 children; David (and Deberia) Henningsen of Stafford, VA, Lisa (and Daniel) Miller of Succasunna, Susan (and Jonathan) McCracken of Succasunna, and Paul (and Kellie) Henningsen of Wharton, 7 grandchildren; Robert, Erik, Jack, Sarah, Douglas, Rachel, and Timothy, 2 great-grandchildren; Traidien and Cierra, and predeceased by a granddaughter Kaylyn. Also survived by sister Alice Inzel ofFt. Garland,CO, brother Walter (and Joyce) Jacobsen of Melbourne, FL, and sister-in-law Gudrun (and Odd) Ribe of Succasunna.

Friends may visit at the Davisand Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main St., Succasunna (973-584-7264) davishepplewhitefh.com on Friday, September 14, from 6 – 9 pm. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, 10 am at Hillside Lutheran Brethren Church, 113 S Hillside Avenue, Succasunna, with the interment to follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Chester.
