Mary Spiropoulos

Ft. Myers, FL/Succasunna, NJ  Mary Spiropoulos was born February 8, 1926, and died Monday, Oct 12, 2015 at Hope Hospice in Bonita Springs, FL.  She was 89 years old. She was born in Philadelphia, PA & grew up in Jackson Heights, NY. She married her childhood sweetheart, John who pre-deceased her in Nov 2004.  She resided in Succasunna, NJ for 47 yrs before moving to Mt. Arlington, NJ & retiring to Ft. Myers, FL.  She was a 1943 graduate of Washington Irving High School in NYC.  She worked with Albert Einstein at the Dept of Education at Princeton University. She was a legal secretary in Morristown, NJ for many years before retiring in 1995.

She is survived by her 3 children: PETER Spiropoulos (& wife, Johanna) of Ft. Myers, FL, HARRIET Gruber (& husband, Robert) of Mt. Arlington, NJ & JOAN Simon (& husband, John) of Ft. Myers, FL; 2 sisters: CaroleLeodas (& husband, Gus) of Melville, NY & Judy Dumas of Philadelphia, PA; 4 grandchildren: Jeffrey Spiropoulos (& wife, Karyn) of Basalt, CO; Jonathan Spiropoulos of Ft. Myers, FL, Dara Gruber of St. Paul, MN & Hali Gruber of Mt. Arlington, NJ and 1 great granddaughter Ina Leeds Spiropoulos of Basalt, CO.

Friends & family are invited to her viewing on Friday, Oct. 16th at the Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main St., Succasunna, NJ 07876  (973 584-7264  www.davishepplewhitefh.com) from 3-5 & 7-9 pm. Mary Spiropoulos was a founding member of St. Andrew Greek Orthodox Church,  1447 Sussex Tpk., Randolph, NJ 07869 where her funeral service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 17th at 10 am, followed by internment at the Succasunna Presbyterian Cemetery. Mary Spiropoulos is also a founding member of St. Peter Orthodox Church, 24850 Old 41 Rd., Suite #6, Bonita Springs, FL 34135, where her 40-day Memorial will be held on Sunday, November 22, 2015. In lieu of flowers, donations IN HER MEMORY should be made to St. Peter Orthodox Church in Bonita Springs, FL.
