Roxbury Township, Mr. Joseph “Joe” Matovich, 90, died on September 3, 2013 at Belle Reve in Milford, PA. He was born in New York City and grew up in the lower east side of Manhattan. He then lived in Succasunna for the past 51 years. He served in the U S Army – OSS during WW II as a radio technician. After the war he worked at the Brooklyn Navy Yard before beginning his career at Picatinny Arsenal in Rockaway Township as an electrical engineer. He worked for more than 25 years until his retirement in 1981.
Joe enjoyed many years traveling with his wife and working on home improvement projects.
He was predeceased by his wife Josephine in 2002 and by his brother Edward in 2006. He is survived by his daughter Ann Matovich Chaisson, and her husband Bill of Milford, PA, son Paul Matovich of Union, and grandsons; Ethan Chaisson of Brooklyn, NY and PFC Benjamin Chaisson of Milford, PA.
Friends may visit at the Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Succasunna, NJ 973-584-7264 (davishepplewhitefh.com) on Thursday from 4 – 7 pm. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, 10 am, at the Funeral Home., with the interment to follow at the Succasunna Presbyterian Cemetery.
