Roxbury Township, Mr. James Francis Nocera, Sr, 100, died on May 3, 2016 at the Compassionate Care Hospice in Dover. He was born in Brooklyn, NY and lived in Succasunna for 53 years. He served in the U S ARMY during WW II under General George Patton as a Sgt. of the Guards, 8^th division and became a blacksmith for the N Y Transit Authority. He later retired from the Morris County Sheriff’s Department as a Judge’s Attendant for the late Judge George Helfrich. He was also a member of St. Therese R C Church in Succasunna.

He was predeceased by his wife Melina Nocera in 2009 and by his son James F, Nocera Jr. in 2003. He is survived by his daughter Elizabeth (and John) Nocera Vegas of Netcong, 2 grandchildren; Freddy and Ally Mills, and great grand children; Layla and Cristian O’Donnell.

Friends may visit at the Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Succasunna 973-584-7264 (davishepplewhitefh.com) on Thursday from 3 – 5 & 7 – 9 pm. The Funeral Liturgy will be held on Friday, 9:30 am, at St. Therese R C Church.
