Gordon Clyde Haggerty

Roxbury Township, Mr. Gordon Clyde Haggerty, 87, died on December 13, 2017 at St. Clare’s Hospital in Dover. He was born in Succasunna, at home on Main Street, and was a life long resident of Roxbury Township. He was a 1949 Graduate of Roxbury High School in the Roosevelt School. He then served in the U S Air Force during the Korean War from 1950-1955, stationed in England, where he met his wife Violet. He then worked for Western Union as a communications Specialist for 29 years. He then worked at Picatinny Arsenal as an Electronics Technician until his retirement in 1995. He was an active Life Member of the Succasunna United Methodist Church, and the American Legion in Newton. He was an avid golfer andloved vegetablegardening.

He is survived by his wife Violet M (Thompson) Haggerty of almost 64 years, 3 sons; Dennis (and Sherry) Haggerty of Fredon Township, Steven (and Bonnie) Haggerty of Frelinghuysen Township, and Michael (and Linda) Haggerty of Blairstown. He also 6 grandchildren; Jason (and Julie) Haggerty, Tiffany (and Damien) White, Holley Haggerty, Steven, Jr. Haggerty, Diana Haggerty, and Gionna Rossi, and 2 great grandsons; Brody & Mason White, and 2 sisters; Lois Cooper of Raleigh, N C, and Patricia Clark of Succasunna. He was predeceased by his brother and 4 sisters; Elizabeth Haggerty, Wesley “Nip” Haggerty, Helen Cooper, Myrtle Burd, and Iva Sweeney.

Friends may visit at the Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Succasunna, NJ 973-584-7264    (davishepplewhitefh.com) on Monday from 4 – 7 pm. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, 10 am at the Funeral Home, with the interment to follow at the Succasunna Methodist Cemetery.
