George E Fenske

Roxbury Township, Chief George E Fenske, 88, died on December 16, 2021 at St. Clare’s Hospital in Dover. He was born at home in Livingston and moved to Roxbury Township 64 years ago. He served in the U S Air Force during the Korean War and served the Roxbury Township Police Department from 1964-1991, moving through the ranks becoming our Police Chief in 1983. He later worked as a school bus driver and became the transportation coordinator for the Roxbury Township Board of Education for almost 20 years.

George had many interests throughout his life including bowling, baseball, collecting antique toy cars and golf. He was an avid Mets fan. His favorite thing to do was spend time with his family. He loved being Grandpa and Great Pap.

He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Lois E Fenske in 2017 and by his son Thomas G Fenske in 2016. He is survived by his brothers Richard Fenske and Albert “AC” Flinn, sister-in-law Sue Fenske son Michael R (and Barbara) Fenske of Succasunna, and daughter Catherine L (and Thomas) Lowe of Succasunna. He also leaves his 8 grandchildren; Lauren, Kellie (husband- Vincent), Bobby (wife – Sami), Tommy, Matthew (wife – Danielle), Gabriel (fiance – Aileen), Tim (wife – Cherlise) & Shawntee (husband- Lou) and 6 great grandchildren; Nora, Jema, Jackson, Sadie, Austin & Wesley.

Friends may visit at the Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Succasunna, NJ 973-584-7264(davishepplewhitefh.com) on Monday (December 20th) from  3 – 7 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday at 10 am, followed by the interment at the Succasunna Presbyterian Cemetery.
