Francis J Cerny

Randolph, NJ     Mr. Francis Joseph Cerny, 85, died on September 12, 2015 at his home. He was born in New York City and lived in Clifton for many years before moving to Randolph in 1997. He served in the U S Army during the Korean War and earned both the Army Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He then earned his BS in Accounting from Rutgers University and then his MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Accounting and Taxation. He worked for41 years in business and public accounting and was a 30 year founding professor at the County College of Morris, starting when the college was created in 1968. He was also a member of the N J Association of Public Accountants and Fraud Examiners, and a member and usher at St. Matthew’s R C Church in Randolph. Previously, he was a member of St. Cyril Methodius R C Church in Clifton.

He is survived by his wife Irene (Macey) Cerny of 36 years, son Tom (and Susan) Hilla of Cumming, GA, 3 grandsons; Scott (and Marla) Caufield of Greenville, SC, David (and Jeanne) Hilla of Sparta, and Frank Smigelski of Randolph. He also leaves his 2 sisters; Sr. M Aurelia O S F of Parsippany and Margaret (and Frank) Skladany of Morris Plains, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Friends may visit at the Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Succasunna, (973-584-7264) (www.davishepplewhitefh.com) on Wednesday, from 4 – 7 pm. The Funeral Liturgy will be held on Thursday, 9 am, assembling at St. Matthews R.C. Church, Randolph, with the Internment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Saddle Brook, NJ.
