Barbara (Burnett) Crowley

Ironia, NJ. Mrs. Barbara “Bobbie” Burnett Crowley, 82, died on March 22, 2021 at the Regency Grande Center in Dover. Barbara was born, raised, and spent her life in the Ironia section of Randolph, NJ. Her early education was at Hillside Avenue in Roxbury and the Consolidated School in Mt. Freedom/Randolph. She was a 1956 graduate of Roxbury High School and later attended nursing school. She was a lifelong member of the Ironia Community Church and Ironia Presbyterian Church and Life Member of the Ironia Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary. Barbara worked at and helped run Bill’s Luncheonette and General Store in Ironia/Chester with her husband, Bill, for many years. She also worked their farm, Breezy Hill Farm, in Ironia and raised their children there on the beautiful property. Barbara was a simple, down-to-earth person, who didn’t require much in life to be happy. Her memory amazed everyone that knew her, and she enjoyed sharing local history, telling old stories, working hard, being outside, walking and hiking, caring for the animals, relaxing in Florida with family, helping family, friends and neighbors and anyone in need, and spending time with her beloved children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Barbara was predeceased by her husband William G. “Bill” Crowley in 2006, her mother  Mildred Klein (Crisp), father Woodrow Wilson Burnett, and sister Dorothy Sinclair. She is survived by her 4 children; Katharine “Kathy’ Button-Sheehy (Phil) of Randolph, James “Kip” (Holly) of Ironia/Chester, Timothy “Tim” of Ironia (Patty), and Jeremiah “Reggie” (Shannon) of Ironia, her 8 grandchildren; Bruce Button, III (Meaghan), James “Kip” Crowley, Jr. (Danielle), Zachary Crowley, Olivia Crowley, Nicolas Crowley, Christiana Crowley, Gabriella Crowley, and Ryan Crowley, her 4 great-grandchildren; Kash Crowley, Lennon Crowley, Julian Button, and Emilia Button, her siblings; sister Patricia Hanlon and brothers Richard “Dick” Tasin and John Tasin, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her stepchildren; Jeanne Burritt (Harold), Michael Crowley (Jean), Patrick Crowley (Donna), Bob Crowley (Sonya), and Charles Crowley (Brenda) and predeceased by stepchildren; Nancy Miller (Don) and William Jr. “Pete” Crowley (Beatrice). 

Friends and family may visit at the Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Succasunna, NJ 973-584-7264 (www.davishepplewhitefh.com) on Sunday, March 28, from 2 – 6 pm. The funeral service and Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, March 29, 10 am at First Congregational Church, 30 Hillside Road, Chester (behind Publick House), with burial to follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery, 26 West Hanover Avenue, Randolph. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Randolph Fire Department, Company #4 Ironia, NJ or St. Jude’s.
