Randolph NJ, Mr. Andrew Downie, 85, died peacefully on January 30, 2016 in Succasunna NJ. He was born on May 30, 1930, in Tarrytown, NY. Andy grew up in Pottstown PA and was a graduate of Muhlenberg College and received his master’s degree from Teachers College Colombia University. He began his long teaching career at Clifford J. Scott High School in East Orange in 1960. He later joined the faculty at County College of Morris where he taught English for 34 years, retiring in 2004. Andy proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean War on the USS Mountrail.

He is survived by his son, Dave and his wife Debbie; his daughter Anne and her husband Rob; a brother, Ronald and sister-in-law, Connie; 4 grandchildren, Danielle, Diana, David and Matt; and many nieces and nephews.

He was a kind and caring, wonderful gentleman who will be deeply missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

A private memorial celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
