Mr. Alan Hugh Bolles, 88, died on December 3, 2012 at the Merry Heart Nursing Home in Succasunna. He was born and raised in Plainfield, NJ and lived briefly in Pottstown, PA before moving to Randolph, NJ two years ago. He served in the U S Army during WW II, and later earned his Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Michigan. He was a maintenance superintendent at the National Starch & Chemical Corp in Plainfield, NJ until his retirement in 1986.  Since retiring, he has enjoyed an active life in the Society for Industrial Archeology, the NJ Canal Society and travel.

Alan was predeceased by his wife Esther (Combs) Bolles in 1974, his son Steven James Bolles in 2006.  He is survived by his son David Alan Bolles, Daughter-in-laws Maureen Bolles and Kim Belsky, Grandson David John Bolles and Brother-in-law Tom Combs.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 8 from 2-5 pm, with the Service at 4 pm, at the Davis and Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main St., Succasunna (973-584-7264), davishepplewhitefh.com.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Red Cross.
